Equalisers
Equalisers (equalizers) are used to change the shape of the attenuation and/or group delay (phase)
response of a transmission system. Typical applications are correction of the passband
response following signal processing such as filtering; the restoration of the response
after a signal has been degraded by a transmission medium such as coaxial cable or
microwave link, or the introduction of pre-distortion in order to shape a signal in order
to pre-correct for later distortion. e.g. group delay error introduced by the IF channel
of a receiver.
Analogue or
Digital Signals
The equalisers (equalizers) offered operate in the in analogue domain and are of an
all pass design but may be used for analogue or digital signals. The technology used to
realise the circuit may be passive, active or a combination.
A video low pass filter response with and without amplitude and group delay is
illustrated below.
